Your Treasure
Remember that wherever your heart is, that is where you'll find your treasure. ~Paulo Coelho
I find it to be increasingly necessary to pay attention to what is going on within. We need to know what speaks to our hearts and let that be where our focus takes us.
When you get buried under the latest news on the pandemic...
find your treasure in your heart.
Find gratitude for your health, home, clothing, food, employment, and the family that surrounds you. The frustration and fear can mount an attack on your mental and emotional well-being. Stay up-to-date on the current situation and then do your part to take care of you. Self-care, regardless of what form that takes (journaling, prayer, energy work, massage, meditation, hiking, etc.), is absolutely necessary. You can only find your treasure in your heart if you are taking care of yourself.
We are rapidly approaching the holiday season that will most likely look very different than years past. I'm doing my best to pretend that everything will be the same...and it's not helping. It's also not helping me be creative in the adjustment process or feeling the sadness of not seeing my family. How are you finding your treasure in your heart to be with either the loss or shift in tradition?
When the political intensity reaches a climax for you...
find your treasure in your heart.
An important solution in this case is to be sure you vote. Your voice matters. (End PSA) Embrace the values that are important to you while being open to hearing what is being said by all. You don't have to agree, just be open.
I recently read an article that cited Pope Francis writing, “Tenderness is the path of choice for the strongest, most courageous men and women.” I shortened it in my head to make it easier to remember: courageous tenderness.
Wouldn't courageous tenderness be a treasure in your heart?
Are you willing to offer courageous tenderness to another who has different views on the pandemic? About the holidays? About schooling? About politics? What does your heart nudge you to do? I have found myself to be stunned, embarrassed, ashamed, and even angry when I hear stories or witness choices first hand that don't make sense to me. Although I'm not acting out towards the others, I oftentimes fail to offer myself courageous tenderness to feel how I feel. I, too, need to find the treasure in my heart.
What treasure do you hold in your heart?
What feeds you?
What inspires you?
How can you use the treasure in your heart to offer courageous tenderness to another? To yourself?
There's a lot of "big" going on outside of us. We need to come back home...to our hearts...to our treasure...to our truth.
Walking with you in light, love, peace...and our treasures.
