COVID:

Cultivate
Openness
Vulnerability
Imagination
Determination

It's time to refresh the lens of how we look at COVID and return to our own selves. I'll be exploring one letter of my acronym each week. We need to return to what is going on within: honor it, tend to it, listen to it, and work with it.

C: Cultivate Awareness

Cultivating awareness is the starting ground for all knowing; paying attention to what you notice in your body, what thoughts race through your mind, and the impact on your spirit. It’s necessary to acknowledge what is going on in within.

With the increasing cacophony in the news, on social media, in the newspapers, and online, it is easy to become overstimulated with data, facts (or not), beliefs and even conspiracy theories. It is essential for your well-being to know when to unplug.

Telling yourself that you're "fine" isn't going to do the trick, either. Especially if you then turn around and snap at your spouse.

It's difficult enough to sort out all of the information around you, but then add into the mix the mental filtering (or not) when speaking to other people. Your ability to hear and respect what others say or believe is a mirror to what is going on inside. This isn't to say that everybody else is right and you're wrong. This is a love nudge to take a peek within and understand the fear (or...?) that is having a field day inside.

The video (link on the right) will guide you through the following questions, as well as through the rest of the acronym. I invite you to sit with the questions and explore what messages are waiting within.

Body

Take a breath and notice any areas of tension in your body.

Where are you gripping?

What are you holding onto?

Mind

Take a breath and notice any thoughts in your mind.

What messages are you receiving?

How can you shift a negative thought into a positive one?

Spirit

Take a breath and bring awareness to your heart center.

What do you need?

What are you longing for?

Mantra

When I choose to cultivate awareness,
I deepen faith in myself to endure.
